The highlight of this leg was a visit by dolphins…again…but this one was spectacular. The bioluminescence was heavy that night making our wake glow. But when the dolphins showed up it was like we were being visited by faries. It was reminiscent of the scene in Moana when her grandmother came back to visit her as a manta ray. They looked like dragons with this 100 foot glowing tail as they twisted and turned, jumped and when they exhaled out of their blowhole it was a fog of light above the water. Unfortunately it was too dark for my iphone video, they were all black but Syds commentary was great. Syd was on the bow and just kept repeating this was the coolest thing shes seen yet.
The map below shows the areas where Trump is working his diplomatic magic by summaraly executing suspected drug runners. Even when they wave the white flag. As part of the plan they jam the GPS signal in the area so all of our navigation equipment is usless except for the sextant. Since im lucky if i can use it to get within 100 miles of where we actually are it may be a challenge. Our government has given us a place to register so they can identify us. They ask that we give them a drone photo from above with all crew on deck. Well that wont happen since i don’t have a drone. Ive heard if we fly a Russian Flag they will pull their finger off the trigger. Our rainbow flag is definitely coming down as to not upset the homophobes So until we are out of danger we will scan the skys for fighters rather than the water for dolphins.

In 2023 hurricane Otis scored a direct hit on Acapulco. It was the costliest Pacifc Hurricane by a factor of 4. Two years later you can see theyre making slow progress. The locals are still making do in a devastated city. They seem way more resilient than folks back home. Nobody was complaining, they just shrug and make do. No FEMA, no low interest loans. The neighbors help you roll your car back over and you carry on.
Didn’t see any homeless. Elderly indigent folks sit by the door to a convenience store opening the door for tips. A billionaire has stepped in to restore some of the amenities and get the tourists back into town. Including the marina we stayed at. We tied up to the one remaining dock, the rest were still strewn around the harbor waiting to be demoed or hauled out to sea. …Deck fitings were crushed water was a hose from shore and we shared the one electric hookup for a dozon boats. But the pool was open and the clubhouse was close to being finished. One nice thing about being on the boat we’ve learned to do with a lot less convenience. So you shrug at the obstacles and relish the luxuries when they come along without taking them for granted.

Cliff Divers of La Quebrada
It was just a 20 min walk to see the divers. Most on the promenade along the cliffs looking out to the Whales breaching in the ocean down below. Or the cove with the locals enjoying beach.

Here are the divers. A family that has kept the tradition alive. They brought attention to the city over the last 90 years. Probably putting Acapulco on the map.
