Dominacalito to Bahia Drake

We left in the morning with the whole gang in calm seas, but the motoring was great for a visit and a little sunbathing.

Sunset the evening before we left.
On our way. Flat calm.
Helping a panga fisherman get off the beach.

The Spider monkeys were very entertaining. Syd loved to take videos of their antics, sometimes right over her head.

Crossing one of the suspension bridges on the way to the McDermotts’ eco lodge and the beach trail along the ocean.

Jungle hike and waterfall rappelling

Heading back home to the Dr.

Susanna signed us all up for an adventure hike in Corcovado National Park. We hiked uphill for an hour then down the river rappelling for 3. Pretty much in the water the whole time. The cool water was really refreshing in the jungle humidity.

We crossed numerous creeks on the way to the trailhead.
Camille learning about her new favorite sport 😉
Chloe didn’t want to make her sister suffer alone
There were rocks in the river that you could rub together to form the not so world famous Corcovado mud mask.

The South Dakota gang left for the little Drakes Bay airport and the next leg of their Journey. Syd, Susanna and I took a dive trip out to Cano Island. We were restricted to the shallow dives because we had a junior diver. I enjoy every trip under water but visibility was low. I heard it was better on the deeper dives. Can’t wait to get to Cocos Island to show the girls what 100’ visibility is like.

On our last day we took a hike to Playa Caletas, a beach facing the ocean with some bigger waves to play in, a spectacular sunset, and lots of beautiful Macaws.

More jungle suspension bridges.
Scarlet Macaw having a little snack.
On our last day Syd had to head up the mast to fix the anchor light.
