Left for Morro Bay mid morning. Clear, 5’ swells at the quarter and light winds so we got the main out and motor-sailed. Uneventful sail. About an hour out, Morro Rock appeared out of the fog. We had sunny skies all the way to the anchorage. Susanna tried the shower in the boat for the first time this trip. I guess she forgot to mention she wanted hot water in the shower. So much for roughing it. Out with the 40 year-old water heater it is. A new one will be waiting in Santa Barbara. I made it up to them by scrounging up $1.25 for the quarter-gets-you-2-minute shower at the boat launch bathroom. We motored down the water front in the dinghy watching the otters and sea lions playing in the bay water. The sea lions were circling the dinghy admiring their new couch as we got back to the boat so we felt the prudent thing would be to hoist the dinghy back on deck. I ran over to the hof brau and got some take out French dip for dinner. We sat watching the sunset as we ate.

Day 2-Morro Bay
Lazy morning….so nice…after a late breakfast, Syd was on a mission to outdo her last sand dollar haul from Morro Rock beach. So she and dad took off on the days adventure, leaving mom to have some quiet time on the boat. After stopping for a sticky cinnamon roll on the wharf we were off on our trek to the beach. 56 sand dollar later she was satisfied and we were soaked.

For dinner we had a great meal at an upscale taqueria/distillery, El Guero.
Day 3
TJ, Lisa and the kids stopped by on their way to Pebble Beach for TJ’s birthday lunch at Giovanni’s Fish House. It was great to see the LA crew. Just don’t see them often enough.

They dropped us off at the bus stop on their way out of town. The afternoon adventure took us to SLO. We walked around town and along the riverwalk past the Mission San Luis Obisbo.
